Balustrade and Handrails

All balustrade, handrails and deck railings must comply with the Building Code of Australia. This states that timber decks which are less than one metre off the ground, do not necessarily require a handrail. However, for safety and visual reasons, a handrail can complete your timber deck.

Timber decks that are more than one metre off the ground, must have balustrades or a handrail.

All hardware used in balustrade and handrails must be either galvanised steel or stainless steel.

There are many different popular styles of balustrades and handrails including stainless steel handrails, timber handrails, glass pool fencing, deck railing and stainless steel cables.
